A gay BDSM biker romance has been nominated at the BAFTAs!

The films and stars vying for glory at the 2026 BAFTA Awards, which honour the best of the past year in cinema, were revealed on 27 January.

As expected, critical darlings such as One Battle After Another, Sinners, Hamnet and Marty Supreme lead the pack, with the aforementioned Paul Thomas Anderson blockbuster topping the list with 14 nominations.

In a welcome surprise, Pillion received three nods: Outstanding British Film, Outstanding Debut by a British Writer, Director or Producer, and Adapted Screenplay.

The romantic black comedy-drama stars Harry Melling as Colin, a weedy wallflower letting life pass him by who becomes the submissive to Alexander Skarsgård’s Ray, the “impossibly handsome leader of a motorbike club.”

As per the official synopsis: “Ray uproots Colin from his dreary suburban life, introducing him to a community of kinky, queer bikers and taking all sorts of virginities along the way.

“But as Colin steps deeper into Ray’s world of rules and mysteries, he begins to question whether the life of a 24/7 submissive is for him. Has he found his calling, or simply swapped one form of suffocation for another?”
