Jacob Tierney, showrunner of Heated Rivalry, has revealed a major scene set to appear in the show’s upcoming second season.

The Canadian director, writer, and producer recently appeared on Loon Call, a podcast dedicated to Rachel Reid’s beloved MLM Game Changers series. There, he reflected on the success of Crave’s acclaimed romantic drama and teased season two, which will adapt the sixth novel in Reid’s series, The Long Game.

However, there's one particular scene from Heated Rivalry that Tierney is keen to adapt. Sixteen months after Shane and Ilya’s idyllic cottage getaway — when Shane’s father, David, caught them in a romantic moment and Shane came out to his parents — the epilogue reveals that Shane has also opened up about his sexuality to his teammates. His best friend, Hayden Pike (played by Callan Potter), remains the only one aware of Shane’s secret romance with Ilya.

Tierney highlighted on Loon Call that Shane’s coming-out to his teammates is only referenced in the source material, and will need to be developed further for the show. He compared it to how he expanded Shane’s beautiful post-coming-out scene with his mother, Yuna (Christina Chang).
