Dylan O'Brein has become the latest star to weigh in on the ongoing discourse about straight actors portraying queer characters.

Last year, the Teen Wolf star made waves for his performance in the critically acclaimed drama Twinless.

Written and directed by James Sweeney, the psychological black comedy follows Roman (O'Brien), a man grieving the death of his identical twin, Rocky (O'Brien), who joins a support group for twinless twins and meets Dennis (Sweeney).

The synopsis adds: "Roman and Dennis both search for solace and an identity without their other halves and soon become inseparable outside the group. But when Roman meets Dennis' ebullient co-worker Marcie, all is revealed to be not what it seems, as each man harbours secrets that could unravel everything."

Spoilers ahead.

In the film, Rocky is revealed to be gay and the lover of Dennis, a detail Roman was unaware of before meeting the latter.

In a recent interview with Dazed, O'Brien and Sweeney dished on all things Twinless, including the ongoing debate about straight actors taking LGBTQIA+ roles.
